Global shipping leader Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) recently announced a significant upgrade to its IROKO service, introducing a new direct call at Cape Town. This enhancement strengthens the shipping connectivity between Asia, South Africa, and West Africa.
The upgraded service primarily supports various sectors including retail, solar panels, and numerous other end-consumer industries. Its unique stand-alone setup distinguishes it in the market. This move also underscores MSC's commitment to fostering stronger links between Africa and its key trade partners, such as China.
The first vessel to operate on the new rotation will be voyage FN604A, scheduled to call at Ningbo on January 23, 2026. The full new rotation is as follows:
Ningbo – Nansha – Singapore – Cape Town – Pointe Noire – Cotonou – Apapa – Tincan/Lagos – Onne – Lobito – Cape Town – Singapore – Xiamen – Ningbo
